Parents Association Cake Sale/Raffle:   The P.A. is holding a cake sale this Saturday night in the school hall directly after the Mass mentioned above. The school will be open from about 6:30pm for cakes/buns etc. to be dropped off. If you are available to help out at the cake sale, please contact Gillian in the office.  Your support is very much appreciated.

Christmas Cards designed by the children have been sent to the designer and will be returned soon to the school.  The packs will be available to order through the school if you so wish with the proceeds again going to the Association.

Parent/Teacher Meetings:   The P/T meetings this year take place on Wednesday the 14th and 21st of November after school each day. Please note that the school will close 15 minutes early on both days at 2:45. We would ask you to make every effort to accommodate the time given to you. If there are any issues, please let us know.

Literacy Lift Off:   Our literacy initiative continues in 1st class for the month of November.

Enrolment Week:   Enrolment for new Junior Infants for 2019 will take place the week commencing Monday January 14th. Enrolment forms can be dropped into the office at this time. Please note that in line with recent legislation, the Board of Management will be amending our policy of admissions before this date.

Staffing:   We would like to welcome Ms. Michelle McConnon who will be filling in for Ms. Cleary for the next while.

Sport:   It is a very busy time for sport in the school. Our boys’ football team will be playing in a semi-final tomorrow. Our girls completed their training sessions with Ms Quinn before the mid-term break and will return in the spring. 3rd and 4th class will be participating in a Futsal contest on November 16th while 5th and 6th will be involved in a Tag Rugby blitz on November 22nd.   Brendan is continuing his coaching with the various classes. Well done to our cross country team who took part in the Cross Country Championships in October. Finally, we will be in touch with pupils who do swimming regularly with regard to the County Finals that take place next month.

Lost and Found:   Can we please ask you again to ensure all items of your child’s uniform are labelled clearly.  We already have a number of items in our lost and found collection after the 1st term.  If items are not labelled we have no way of returning them to their owner.

Colaiste Dun an Rí :  Pupils from 6th class are invited to Colaiste Dun an Ri’s subject sampling morning on Saturday 10th of November from 9.15am to 12.15pm.

The enrolment evening for Colaiste Dun an Ri is on Tuesday 13th November from 7 to 9pm, please ensure you bring your child’s PPS No. and a copy of their Birth Certificate on the night.

Credit Union Art:  Congratulations to Nadine McKenna whose entry came 3rd in the Age 7 and under category in the recent Art competition.

Building/Supervision:  We hope to start building in the new year.  The hall will likely be used as a classroom for the remainder of the year. This obviously impacts the school in a number of ways.  One is that the hall can’t now be used to keep all the students in on a wet morning.  We would remind parents not to drop children at school at an inappropriately early time.  Supervision is provided from 9:10am or when the bus arrives- whichever is earlier.
