October Newsletter

Laragh 2 Muff N.S. October Newsletter 2019

Sacramental Classes:   All families should now have received a list of the Preparation Masses for the year. The next one for both the Communion and Confirmation class is on this Saturday the 12th of October at 7:30 in Muff Church.

Board of Management Election:   The election of the parent nominees for the Board of Management will take place this Wednesday 9th October at 8:00 p.m. We would ask that parents make an effort to be represented on the night. The Board of Management plays an absolutely crucial role in the running of the school and it is essential that we have a male and female nominee on the Board. We hope to see you on the evening.

Parents Association:   The new committee is in place for the year. We would like to remind you that all parents are automatically members of the Parents Association. We hope that many of you will help out and become involved in their activities over the coming months.

The Parent’s Association is holding a cake sale this Saturday night in the school hall directly after Mass.  The school will be open from about 6.30pm for cakes/buns etc. to be dropped off.  We would really appreciate if you could bake or could help out at the cake sale.  Your support is very much appreciated.

The Cash for Clothes collection will be held in the school on Tuesday 12th November.  Bags can be left in the school hall on the Friday and Monday evening before from 2.30 -3.30pm, and first thing on Tuesday morning.

Security:   We have had a number of small incidents over recent months on the school grounds. The Board of Management is taking steps to address these. We would remind the whole school community that nobody should be on the school premises after school hours unless they are part of the After School Club with Caroline.

Homework:   This is an important part of school life. It is essential that children’s reading is heard each day. If there is an issue with homework such as it being too difficult or taking too long, or indeed any issue you have, please contact the office and make an appointment to see the class teacher.

Safety at the school gateWhen dropping off children in the morning, we would ask parents not to pull up on the school side of the road (along the river where the cones are placed – these cones were taken over the summer and we are looking to replace them.) This causes visual obstruction to oncoming traffic and is dangerous.  While it is necessary to stop there in the evenings, children are always accompanied back from the gets by parents.  In the morning there is always adequate place to pull in to the car park and we ask you, for the safety of all children, to use that side of the road only, and walk children to the gate.  Thanks for your co-operation.

GOAL Jersey Day:   The annual GOAL Jersey Day takes place this Friday 11th October. Children bring in €2 which goes to the charity and they can wear a sports jersey/t-shirt of their choice.

Sport:   The boys’ team have their first match this week, weather permitting and the girls have been continuing their training. The Cross Country Team will have training this Wednesday at 12:30 in the school for their race which takes place on Wednesday 16th October in Killinkere.

Maths Week:   This takes place next week and we have a number of activities planned for the students.
