Newsletter October 2015
Dear Parents/Guardians,
At the Parents Associations AGM on the 23rd September a number of new committee members were elected. While the committee members help to organise the meetings etc. every parent who has a child in the school is automatically a member of the Parents Association. Every parent is welcome to attend all the committee meetings to voice any concerns they may have or to put forward any fundraising ideas they would like the school to consider. We look forward to welcoming you at our meetings during the year.
The Committee for 2015/2016 are:
Sharon Shiels Chairperson
Michelle Gogarty Assistant Chairperson
JP Canavan Secretary
Angela Reilly Assistant Secretary
Debbie Mc Daniel Treasurer
Louise Mc Cormack Assistant Treasurer
We held our first committee meeting on Monday 28th September and agreed on the following fundraisers for the first term:
Cake Sale | Saturday 10th October after 7.30 Mass |
Movie Night | Saturday 17th October 5-7 pm |
Cash for Clothes | Tuesday 3rd November |
Christmas Cards for Schools | Ongoing until December |
Movie Night | Saturday 19th December 5-7 pm |
Cake Sale Saturday 10th October after 7.30pm Mass
As this cake sale is fast approaching we would appreciate all parents/guardians to help out by baking cakes and treats to be sold at this fundraiser. This is always a popular fundraiser and an evening the locals enjoy after Mass. Baked goods can be left into the school hall from 6.30pm on Saturday evening 10th October.
Cash for Clothes 3rd November 2015
Are you planning a clear out over mid-term?
We are holding our annual Cash for Clothes fundraiser on Tuesday November 3rd. This will give you perfect opportunity to get rid of your unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, bedding etc. while raising funds for the school.
We would really appreciate all families where possible to bring in as many bags of clothing and textile for recycling. This will ensure a larger weight for the collection and therefore will increase any monies raised.
More Bags = More Weight = More Funds Raised
This fundraiser contributes to the Green Schools Initiative the school have ongoing. The company collecting the clothes is Lenrec Ltd. which has a full valid waste collection permit.
Recycling clothing and textile collections is a FREE way of raising much needed funds and ALL MONIES raised are PROFIT and go straight back to the school which helps to subsidise activities that our children avail of e.g. school tours, swimming, sports day and so on.
Items that can be dropped off are: adult and children’s clothing, paired shoes, handbags, belts, curtains, bedding, towels and soft toys.
Further details about collection point and times will be sent home in the coming weeks.
Facebook Page
The parents association have a Facebook page ‘Muff N.S. Parents Association’. We would appreciate all parents who are on Facebook to like the page and share it. We use it to publicise upcoming events and achievements in the school so its use would be greatly enhanced with more interaction from parents.
Many thanks to everyone for their support last year. It is really appreciated and your contribution makes a huge difference in how much we can subsidise and contribute towards school activities for all our children.
Thanking you all in advance,
The Parents Association Committee
